Spot Trading, LLC is a proprietary trading firm specializing in equity and index options located in Chicago’s financial district. Spot recruits new employees through an aggressive nationwide university campus recruiting program that emphasizes the benefits of living and working in Chicago.

  • Spot Trading Website

    STA Digital was initially engaged to develop strategic SEO efforts to compliment the trading firm’s college recruitment efforts. By integrating STA Digital’s digital strategy approach and their specific SEO recommendations within a new redesigned website, Spot was able to increase their organic search referral and site traffic, and experience noticeable gains in their organic search result rankings on valuable industry and recruitment keywords.

    Web design and implementation

    Central to Spot’s digital strategy was a new company website. STA Digital recommended and built the new website using the open source WordPress content management system. Our creative team worked closely with Spot leadership to deliver multiple web design concepts, which were refined into a final design. The final design was converted into a custom WordPress theme. All content and images were imported, entered, edited, tested and then launched in the new website. After one initial training session, the WordPress CMS enabled Spot staff to make ongoing content updates.


  • Recruiting iPad Web App

    After using the new website and print materials for a season of college recruiting, Spot approached STA Digital with the idea of designing and developing an iPad application specifically to assist college recruiters with their target audience interviews.

    STA Digital recommended the design and development of a content specific, specialized college recruiting website that was formatted and coded to work well on the latest Apple iPads with retina displays.

    New custom professional photography by Doug McGoldrick was art directed, then integrated into the new iPad friendly website using responsive design techniques. Spot purchased new matching iPad’s for their entire recruiting team, and now use these in addition to print brochures to enhance the recruiting communication process on US college campuses.

  • Promotional Materials

    In addition to the digital assets described here, Spot chose STA Digital to redesign their print and promotional materials. STA Digital directed a day-long photo shoot at Spot’s offices, designed new brochures and supplemental print materials in alignment with the new website design. STA Digital also designed the graphics for the portable recruiting event display booth.

    Writing for the web

    Implementing a new digital strategy often means going through a lot of written content. Spot looked to STA Digital to learn about its business and create new web and print copy based on existing written resources. STA Digital streamlined and refreshed Spot’s core messaging and provided copy-writing and editing throughout the entire project.
